ACT Alliance Partners Visit Nakivale to Share Best Practices and Strengthen Cross-Border Collaboration
Partners under the ACT Alliance Appeal for Refugees from Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania are currently undertaking a benchmarking visit to Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Isingiro District, Uganda. The purpose of the visit is to learn and exchange best practices in managing Uganda’s regional refugee crisis effectively.
The Church of Uganda delegation, led by Mr. Balaam Muheebwa, the Provincial Treasurer, is actively participating in this regional exchange. The visit offers a valuable platform for partners to share experiences, foster peer learning, and enhance cross-border collaboration in refugee response efforts.
Participants include notable organizations such as Finn Church Aid (FCA), the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), HEKS/EPER (Swiss Church Aid), and the Church of Uganda from Uganda; Tanganyika Christian Refugee Services (TCRS) from Tanzania; the ACT Alliance Regional Office from Kenya; and in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), partners such as Christian Aid (CA), Bureau Œcuménique d'Appui au Développement (BOAD), the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Congo (EELCO), and Église du Christ au Congo (ECC).
At Nakivale, the Church of Uganda continues to play a vital role in providing psychosocial support, promoting peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities, addressing gender-based violence, and delivering urgent humanitarian assistance to those in need.
This initiative exemplifies regional cooperation in refugee management and underscores the importance of holistic, community-based approaches to addressing displacement challenges.
