Church of Uganda Family TV officially launched

Church of Uganda Family TV has been officially launched.

During the 26th Provincial Assembly that has just been concluded, the delegates that included The ArchBishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr Sameul Kaziimba Mugalu, and representatives from all dioceses countrywide dedicated their own media house to God in Prayer and declared its official launch.

 

During C.O.U Family TV’s business breakfast launch that took place at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on Friday,  The Managing Director, Mr. Amos Mwesigye revealed that the idea of having a TV station in Church of Uganda started 14 years ago with a team of men including himself, Canon Charles Tukacungurwa, and Mr. Geoffrey Kakira, who had gone to US together to preach the gospel. At their return, having desired to do something transformational, they came up with a decision to start up a TV station which would focus on extending the true gospel to nations.

 

Mr. Mwesigye appreciated the Archbishop of Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu for the support he accorded ‘Family TV’ to partner with Church of Uganda.

 

Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu commended the founders of C.O.U Family TV for such a project and highlighted the need to build up on this vision. Noting that the partnership followed the right legal procedure, Archbishop Kaziimba also emphasized Church of Uganda’s commitment to work with and support Family TV management.

 

Deputy Governor B.O.U Michael Atingi-Ego who was the guest of honor encouraged C.O.U Family TV to produce social economic content to facilitate in social economic transformation. Mr. Atingi-Ego appreciated Church of Uganda for supporting Bank of Uganda after the loss of the Former Governor, Emmanuel Mutebile.  He also presented a check of 20 Million shillings from Bank of Uganda to support C.O.U Family TV and pledged  5 Million as an individual. 

 

Hon. Michael Maranga Mawanda, Igara East Member of Parliament who represented the government said that the government will partner with C.O.U Family TV in giving out and publishing government programs. He also urged the public to support the station as it changes many people’s lives.

 

The Business Breakfast was attended by dozens of dignitaries including The Rt. Rev. John Wilson Nandaah, Bishop Of Mbale Diocese, The State Minister for Finance & Planning, Hon.Amos Lugolobi, Hon. Margaret Muhanga, Hon. Bright Rwamirama, Hon David Bahati, clergy, government and non-government organisation leaders as well as business personell who made their financial contributions to support the work of C.O.U Family TV.

 

C.O.U Family TV’s promoters include Lt. Col. Canon Robert Bell Sekidde, Dr. Christine Luutu Nalwadda, Mr. Edward Steven Gaamuwa, Can. Eng. Justus Akankwasa, Can. Charles Tukacungurwwa, Rt. Rev. Kosea Odongo, Can. Frank Atwiine, Mr Collin Mugasha Babirukamu, Can. Sam Rogers Wairagala, Dr. Peter Ssegawa, and Mrs Sheilla Nduhukire Kakonge.

 

The station's programming is carried by DSTV channel 375, Free-To-Air 939 through Signet (U) Ltd, GOTv channel 829 and StarTimes channel 282. C.O.U Family TV is also available on the Family TV App as well as its website, https://coufamilytv.co.ug/.
