The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has bid farewell to Christians in West Ruwenzori Diocese following his pastoral visit to the Diocese. During the farewell service, the Archbishop called for unity, cleanliness and spiritual renewal, while the Bishop of West Rwenzori Diocese presented a report highlighting the Diocese's remarkable growth.

Christians gathered at Barnabas Cathedral in Bumadu for a farewell service in honour of the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, marking the conclusion of his pastoral visit to West Rwenzori Diocese.

Preaching from Isaiah Chapter 1, Verse 16, Archbishop Kaziimba thanked the church and local leaders for the warm reception accorded to him and praised God for the transformation he witnessed during his visit.

He noted the visible development in the Diocese, including new infrastructure and the growing number of joyful Christians.

The archbishop also commended residents for participating in the National General Cleaning Exercise, saying such initiatives promote unity by bringing people together regardless of political or religious differences.

He appealed to the relevant authorities to consider moving the monthly clean-up exercise to Thursday, saying this would make it more inclusive for all Ugandans.

The Bishop of West Rwenzori Diocese, Rt. Rev. Barnabas Tibaijuka, presented a report highlighting the Diocese's spiritual and physical growth since its establishment.

He said the Diocese has benefited from partnerships, including support from World Harvest Mission, and has continued to expand its ministry, with about 4,000 Christians confirmed in the faith.

The state minister for Lands, Hon. Harriet Ntabazi, thanked Archbishop Kaziimba for visiting Bundibugyo and commended his contribution to the growth of the Church and the community.

She urged residents to uphold patriotism, embrace cleanliness and maintain proper hygiene, saying these are essential for the district's health and development. The Minister also clarified that there is currently no Ebola outbreak in Bundibugyo District, expressing concern over the continued association of the district's name with the virus.

The farewell service marked the conclusion of Archbishop Kaziimba's pastoral visit to West Ruwenzori Diocese, with church leaders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening both the spiritual and socio-economic transformation of the region as they prepare for a new chapter in the Church's journey.
