Condolences on the Passing of His Holiness Pope Francis A Message from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of the Republic of Uganda
It is with profound sadness that we learn of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. On behalf of the government and the people of Uganda, and in my capacity as President, I extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to His Eminence Pietro Paroli, the Secretary of State, and through him, to the entire Catholic Church around the globe.
Pope Francis will be remembered as an extraordinary spiritual leader whose unwavering commitment to faith revitalized the Church's mission in an increasingly secular world. His voice for peace, social justice, compassion, and humility touched millions, inspiring hope and guiding the faithful.
His readiness to engage with people of all faiths, including Muslims and Orthodox Christians, exemplified his dedication to the teachings of Jesus. Like the Good Samaritan in the parable from Luke 10:29-37, Pope Francis championed love, unity, and service to humanity, leaving a legacy that will endure for generations.
During this time of mourning, we stand in solidarity with Catholics in Uganda and across the world, sharing in the sorrow of this tremendous loss.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
