Successful Mobilization Visit to South Ankole, West Ankole, and North Kigezi Dioceses Boosts East African Revival Convention
Kigezi Diocese Leaders Drive Mobilization Efforts for East African Revival Convention Across South Ankole, West Ankole, and North Kigezi Dioceses
Kigezi Diocese recently embarked on a strategic mobilization visit to three key dioceses—South Ankole, West Ankole, and North Kigezi—as part of a concerted effort to promote the upcoming East African Revival Convention. Led by Rev. Edison Turyatunga, Mr. Monday Kakye, and myself, the team aimed to strengthen partnerships, evaluate progress, and garner support for this significant spiritual event.
Our discussions with the Diocesan Secretary proved fruitful, with the secretary promising to discuss our visit with the Bishop. Subsequently, the diocese committed to contributing 1 million Ugandan shillings towards the convention—an encouraging sign of their willingness to collaborate and support the revival movement.
Unfavorably, the team’s visit coincided with a visiting bishop’s schedule, preventing a meeting with key church leaders. Nonetheless, we engaged the Very Rev. John Makulu, Subdean of the Cathedral and mission coordinator. He expressed challenges in mobilizing support due to conflicting schedules with the Provincial Clergy Conference and other commitments. Despite this, he assured us of their prayers and promised to deliberate further with the Diocesan Secretary and Bishop. We recommend intensified advocacy at the diocesan level to secure greater participation.
The response from North Kigezi was particularly encouraging. During their clergy conference, we had the opportunity to address the gathering, which resonated positively with attendees. The Archdeaconries committed to supporting the convention through donations of food, especially matooke, rice, and milk, as well as monetary contributions. Notably, Mr. Boaz Rutera from Bugangari pledged 1 million Ugandan shillings after consulting with the Bishop. The collected items are scheduled for collection at the Cathedral by August 18, 2025, with transportation arrangements to be made to Kabale.
Overall, the mobilization trip yielded promising results, especially within South Ankole and North Kigezi dioceses. Our hope is to sustain these vital partnerships and ensure a successful East African Revival Convention. We remain committed to fostering community support and spiritual renewal across the region.
