Ministry Of Finance Releases Shs 9.2 Tn For The Second Quarter Of Fy 2023-2024

According to figures released by the incoming permanent secretary/ Secretary to the Treasury, Ramathan Ggoobi, shs1.842 trillion which represents 25.3% will go towards wages whereas shs529.7billion is for the Parish Development Model.

This was revealed today at the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development head questors in Kampala.

Secretary to the Treasury in the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development, Ramathan Ggoobi has revealed that the economy of the country remains on a steady recovery path regardless of the past challenges. However, attributed the last financial year’s growth to private sector investments in the key sectors of the economy like oil and gas and the implementation of government programs. 

While reviewing the state of the economy, the permanent secretary and secretary to the treasury noted that with contained implementation of government programs and private sector recovery the country’s economy is expected to expand by 6% this financial year

Addressing fiscal performance, Ggoobi revealed the government’s commitment to maintaining fiscal sustainability.

On the non-wage recurrent government expenditure, the ministry released shs529.7 billion which is meant to ensure that all parishes are provided with shs50 million each by half a year. The Emyooga program has received shs100 billion and shs42.5 billion is meant for the capitalization of the Uganda Development Bank.

According to the release, shs420 billion has been released for statutory votes including parliament at shs212.708 billion, shs97.057 billion allocated for the Electoral Commission and shs60.28 billion for the judiciary.

The figures also indicate that shs289.558 billion has been released for paying pension and gratuity in the second quarter of the year whereas shs 221 billion will go to education institutions including the Ministry of Education and Sports at shs84.3 billion.

 Public universities, Uganda Management Institute and Law Development Centre will share shs108 billion, UNEB has been allocated shs23.34 billion and shs5 billion will go to the National Curriculum Development Centre while shs15 billion to National Council of Sports for support to sports federations in the country.
