Christians in Katwe have been called upon to embrace love, unity, and evangelism as church leaders from Uganda and Kenya gathered for a pastoral visit led by the Bishop of Karamoja Diocese, Rt. Rev. Michael Chorey, at St Stephens Kitara Church of Uganda.
Christians at St. Stephen's Kitara Church of Uganda in Katwe today gathered in large numbers to welcome the Bishop of Karamoja Diocese, Rt. Rev. Michael Chorey, during a pastoral visit aimed at strengthening faith, unity, and evangelism among believers.
The bishop was accompanied by his wife, Rec. Canon Jane Chorey, as well as church leaders from Kenya led by Rt. Rev. Samson Turyapusi and Mama Diana Turyapusi from the Diocese of Kapengulia.
While preaching during the service, Bishop Michael Chorey urged Christians to practice genuine love and care for one another, saying faith must be reflected through actions and service to the community.
Bishop Chorey further emphasized the importance of sacrifice, sharing, and supporting one another as part of Christian living.
In his sermon, Rt. Rev. Samson Turyapusi encouraged believers to remain united and use the gospel as a tool for transforming communities and strengthening families.
Rec Canon Jane Chorey also encouraged Christians to visit Karamoja and witness the ongoing transformation and spiritual growth taking place in the region.
The service was attended by Uganda’s High Commissioner to Tanzania, Ambassador Col. (Rtd.) Fred Mwesigye, who called upon Ugandans to support and embrace the forthcoming swearing-in ceremony of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni scheduled for May 12th, 2026.
The pastoral visit concluded with prayers for peace, unity, and spiritual growth among Christians in Uganda and across the East African region.
