Archbishop Kaziimba Concludes Farewell Visit to North West Ankole Diocese: Archbishop Calls for Encouragement, Unity and Steadfast Faith. Church Leaders Praise Dr. Kaziimba's Legacy of Transf
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has concluded his farewell visit to North West Ankole Diocese with a call to Christians to remain steadfast in faith, encourage one another, and embrace unity as a foundation for both spiritual and community development.
Today marked the conclusion of Archbishop Kaziimba's two-day farewell visit to North West Ankole Diocese.
During a farewell service held at St. Paul's Cathedral, Ibanda, the archbishop preached from the life of Barnabas, describing him as an encourager whose ministry strengthened the early Church and inspired believers to remain faithful to God.
Drawing lessons from the biblical character of Barnabas, the Archbishop challenged Christians to embrace people who encourage and support God's work, noting that every vision flourishes when surrounded by encouragers.
He further urged believers to become sources of encouragement to others, saying words of hope and support often give people the strength to persevere and achieve their God-given purpose.
The Archbishop also cautioned Christians against allowing negativity and discouragement to derail them from their calling, emphasizing that God always creates a way forward for those who trust in Him.
As has been his consistent message during the farewell tour, Archbishop Kaziimba emphasized the importance of unity despite differences, noting that unity promotes development while division hinders progress.
Meanwhile, the bishop of the North West Ankole Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Amos Magezi, commended Archbishop Kaziimba for his impactful leadership as the 9th archbishop of the Church of Uganda.
Bishop Magezi particularly applauded the archbishop’s innovations during the COVID-19 lockdown, saying they helped keep the Church connected and ministry active despite unprecedented challenges.
He also highlighted some of the Archbishop's contributions to the North West Ankole Diocese, including the vision behind Sunrise Plaza, a commercial project aimed at strengthening the Diocese's financial sustainability.
Leaders from the district, including the Woman Member of Parliament for Ibanda, paid tribute to Archbishop Kaziimba for his dedicated service to the Church and the nation.
Representing the laity, church members thanked the archbishop for championing major church initiatives, including spearheading the completion of Janani Luwum Church House and the establishment of COU Family TV.
Archbishop Kaziimba is expected to retire in 2027 after serving as the 9th Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, leaving behind a legacy of evangelism, innovation, unity, and institutional growth.
