72-Year-Old Kibaale Woman Demand Sh120m Compensation From Chinese Company

A 72-year-old Leokadia Bizobwire, a resident of Busaana LCI in Kibaale town council Kibaale District is seeking intervention from President Museveni and Prime Minister Robbinah Nabbanja over unpaid money for the use of his land by China Communication Construction company(CCCC) during the tarmacking of Mubende-Kakumiro-Kagadi road.

 Bizobwire Leokadia  A 72-year-old resident of Busaana LCI in Kibaale town council Kibaale District says the Chinese company contracted her half-acre piece of land for five years on January 10, 2017, for their activities promising to give her a house floored, plastered and money worth sh500,000 for each month for a period one year of the renewal of contract but the company shifted to a new place in 2022 without clearing her with a furnished house and money. 

Bizobwire further revealed that she went to Kibaale court using her lawyer M/SP.WETTAKA ADVOCATES to pursue the Chinese company but did not agree with the Chinese who wanted to give her only sh10m instead of sh120m for the renovation of the ramshackle building left for her by the Chinese and her case was dismissed. She wants the intervention of President Museveni, Premier Nabbanja, Matia Kasaija Finance Minister, and Fred Byamukama the transport state Minister.

 Nsamba Peter Powel the former Acting Clerk of Kibaale town council is a witness in the case of an elderly woman Leokadia and Birungi Jude but said there was mismanagement of the court process of the elderly woman and that the town council has no interest in grabbing the land of Birungi only he blocked the access road of the town council.

Birungi Jude Tadeo and his wife Businge Nankya a neighbor to the elderly Woman also accuse the Chinese company for leaving without paying them sh60m for the use of his 1 acre piece of land and also blame Kibaale town council authorities for conniving with the Chinese over unpaid compensation. 

The Chinese company Project Manager identified as Wangah represented by his lawyer Oscar Mugabe said that he is aware of the elderly case filed against the company but it is still in court and cannot comment on issues in the chief Magistrates Court.
