90 Year Wants Compensation From Museveni
A 90-year old veteran in Kagadi district and his family want President Yoweri Museveni to recognize him by awarding him a medal on January 26, this year during the NRM Liberation Day Celebrations in Kakumiro district.
They also want compensation for the loss of their bread winner incurred during the liberation struggle between 1981-1985.
Peter Rugambwa a 90 year old resident of Nyamigisa B Village in Muhorro sub-county Kagadi district narrates his ordeal of how he was tortured, arrested and imprisoned, over false accusations of hiding President Yoweri Museveni in his home by the then president Dr. Milton Obote’s soldiers in the early 1980’s.
In the 1980’s I was tortured, spread with red-pepper in my eyes and defaced with a barrel of a gun by Late Dr. Milton Obote’s soldiers for falsely accusing me of hiding Museveni in my house and supporting him yet I had never seen him and did not know where he was. I lost my wife, property in the struggle. I request president Museveni to recognize me on January 26 in Kakumiro on liberation day.
Rugambwa wants President Museveni to help educate his grandchildren and construct him a house.
As a widower, I request President Museveni to remember my efforts and suffering for him and Uganda in general by awarding me with a medal and compensate me by educating my grandchildren, supporting my small projects, constructing for me a good house. Allen Tumwakire a daughter to Peter Rugambwa affirms her father’s concerns and seeks intervention from government.
