
Acholi MPs Disappointed In Their Cultural Leaders' Wrangles.
Members of Parliament from the school region have expressed their disappointment in the cultural issues that keep arising from the region. Cultural leaders are being accused of selling off land that belongs to the cultural institutions among other issues.
The Acholi region's cultural wrangles have lingered for a while with a section of the clans suggesting the election of a new leader, rather than the current one. we have the report.
On the 20th of June, a section of clan members in the Acholi region opted out of the cultural institution led by the paramount chief who has been on the throne for 17 years.
A group of rebelling cultural leaders with unknown members censored out the paramount chief rwot David Onen Acana the second upon allegations of misusing cultural institutions' property and selling institutional property among many other issues.
Because of this, the cultural institution of Acholi has remained divided and in panic.
The two contending parties are both claiming authority over the cultural institution. This was revealed yesterday during a press conference organized by the rebelling section of the cultural institution at the home of chairperson Atiak clan who is currently the caretaker of the rebelling group.
The Acholi paramount Chief David Onen Acana second yesterday addressed the press at his palace in Kanyagoga cell Layibi –bardege division had this to say about the conflicts.
However, the key political leaders in the region also issued statements on the saga at the cultural institution.
Gilbert Olanya the Kilak south member of parliament had this to say about what is happening at the cultural institution.
Aol Betty Ocan, the woman member of parliament for Gulu city noted her disappointment on the current fight at the cultural institution.
Lakony Micheal the Amuru district chairperson appealed to the cultural leaders to keep peace and protect their values.
The rebel clan leaders had earlier issued a road map for electing a new paramount chief slotted for December this year.
