During this event, numerous advanced-level leavers were selected for entry into various tertiary institutions, where they will pursue diplomas and other academic awards.
The meeting brought together different stakeholders, including officials from the Ministry of Education, heads of various institutions, and other key participants. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Hon. Dr. Jesse Muyingo, and the Minister of State for Higher Education.
The Minister of State for Higher Education, Hon. Dr Jesse Muyingo, has officially launched the Joint Admissions Board (JAB) selection process. As part of this important event, various heads of institutions are now selecting students for admission into tertiary institutions.
She noted that a total of 32 institutions are participating in the selection process, which aims to ensure that all Ugandans have equal opportunities to advance to higher levels of education.
Out of 14,634 applicants for the loan scheme, 4,997 successfully passed the selection process, but only 1,500 can be accommodated.
Bbosa Kizito, Executive Director of the Higher Education Students Financing Board, has urged the government to secure additional funding for enrolling students.
He added that challenges persist despite the opportunity for students to be placed in institutions, including limited accommodation and insufficient enrollment capacity for degree programs.
Hon. Jesse Muyingo the Minister of State for Higher Education has urged all heads of institutions to follow guidelines and criteria to ensure transparency, fairness, and equity in the selection process. Additionally, he has announced the official dates for the opening of institutions.
The JAB selection is the final step in the admissions process for Advanced Level leavers, concluding the overall selection exercise.
