Ambassador Malango Pushes “Legacy Era” Agenda as Uganda Enters New Presidential Term: Call for Priority Shift to Jobs, Industrial Growth and Economic Security. Uganda Urged to Embrace Ai, Cre
As Uganda prepares for the swearing-in of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on May 12th, conversations about the country’s economic future, youth empowerment, and technological transformation continue to shape national debate.
State House Presidential Special Envoy on Tourism and Trade Ambassador Rose Malango says the upcoming term should be viewed as a “legacy era” focused on economic security, industrial growth, innovation, and regional stability.
Speaking during an exclusive interview, Ambassador Rose Malango emphasized that Uganda must now prioritize youth employment, science, technology, and national unity in order to remain competitive in the rapidly changing global economy.
According to Malango, the new presidential term comes at a defining moment for Uganda, following decades of progress in security, industrialization, regional diplomacy, and economic growth.
She described the upcoming administration as an opportunity to consolidate those achievements while preparing the country for future global challenges.
Ambassador Malango noted that economic security must now become a major national priority as global economic and political shifts continue to create uncertainty across many countries.
She said Uganda must strengthen local systems, expand investment opportunities, and empower citizens to participate more actively in the economy.
With Uganda’s youthful population steadily increasing, Malango also called for greater investment in sports, film, digital content creation, and other creative industries.
She noted that sectors such as documentaries, entertainment, and sports have the potential to generate employment, promote talent, and contribute significantly to national income.
The former United Nations Resident Coordinator further emphasized the importance of science, technology, and artificial intelligence in shaping Uganda’s future economy.
She argued that embracing innovation will be critical for Uganda to compete effectively in international markets and attract global partnerships.
Ambassador Malango also urged Ugandans to remain united, saying national unity is essential for economic transformation and stronger international engagement.
As Uganda prepares to enter another political chapter on May 12th, expectations remain high on how the next term will address youth employment, technological advancement, economic growth, and national development.
For Ambassador Rose Malango, the coming years present an opportunity to cement a lasting legacy built on empowerment, innovation, and inclusive economic transformation.
