Archbishop Kaziimba Bids Farewell to Muhabura Diocese: Christians Urged to Choose Unity, Forgiveness and Love.Bishop Mbitse Hails Dr. Kaziimba's Transformative Leadership
As his farewell tour across the Church of Uganda continues, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has challenged Christians to reject division and embrace unity, forgiveness, and teamwork, saying these values are essential for both national development and the growth of the Church.
The archbishop delivered the message during his farewell visit to Muhabura Diocese at St. Andrew's Cathedral, Seseme, in Kisoro District.
The archbishop’s visit to Muhabura Diocese marks the seventh stop on his farewell tour of the Church of Uganda's 39 dioceses ahead of his retirement on 15th August 2027.
While leading a farewell service at St. Andrew's Cathedral Seseme, Archbishop Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu called on Christians to move from bitterness to betterment by embracing reconciliation and living as ambassadors of peace.
The archbishop urged believers to remain rooted in Christ, forgive those who wrong them, and demonstrate love even to those who oppose them, saying genuine love remains the foundation of peaceful communities and national transformation.
He also cautioned Christians against division based on politics, tribe, age, or religious affiliation, reminding the congregation that all people are created in the image of God and deserve dignity and respect.
Archbishop Kaziimba further encouraged believers to embrace teamwork, shared responsibility, and hard work in the fight against poverty while calling upon the Church to pursue renewal, restoration, and spiritual revival.
The Bishop of Muhabura Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Godfrey Mbitse, commended Archbishop Kaziimba for his visionary leadership, describing his tenure as one that strengthened both the Church and the nation.
Bishop Mbitse particularly applauded the Archbishop's leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying his innovations enabled the Church to continue despite unprecedented challenges.
He also praised the archbishop for remaining steadfast in defending biblical values and the doctrine of the Church of Uganda despite external pressure from some Western countries over homosexuality.
Bishop Mbitse further acknowledged several provincial initiatives spearheaded under Archbishop Kaziimba's leadership, including the establishment of COU Family TV and other projects that have strengthened evangelism and ministry across the Church of Uganda.
Political leaders also paid tribute to the archbishop's service.
The Kisoro District Woman Member of Parliament and State Minister for Defense and Veteran Affairs in charge of defense, Hon. Grace Akifeza Ngabirano, applauded Archbishop Kaziimba for his selfless leadership and commitment to both the Church and the nation.
She urged Ugandans to embrace the archbishop's message by promoting unity, peaceful coexistence, and love beyond political, tribal, and religious differences.
As Archbishop Kaziimba's farewell journey continues across the country, his message to Muhabura Diocese was unmistakable: a united Church built on forgiveness, love, and shared purpose remains the strongest foundation for transforming communities and advancing God's Kingdom.
