Archbishop Kaziimba Calls For Unity as Farewell Tour Reaches Kinkiizi: Christians Urged to Reject Division, Gossip and Character Assassination.Amama Mbabazi Hails Archbishop's Legacy of Peace
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, has urged Christians to safeguard the unity of the Church by rejecting division, political rivalries, and character assassination, saying only a Christ-centered Church can remain strong and fulfill its mission. He made the call during his farewell visit to Kinkiizi Diocese, where leaders praised his legacy of peace, reconciliation, and transformative leadership.
Yesterday, the Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu continued his farewell tour of the Church of Uganda with a visit to Kinkiizi Diocese, where he was hosted by the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dan Zoreka.
At exactly 9:15 AM, the archbishop landed at Savannah Aerodrome in Kihihi, where he was received by Bishop Dan Zoreka and Christians from Kinkiizi Diocese.
Upon reaching the archbishop, he praised the late Dr. Garuga for the vision that has made transport easier by putting up the Savannah Aerodrome, a facility that he said contributes to the country. He then called upon the government of Uganda to come up and support the aerodrome for its contribution to the tourism sector.
From there, the archbishop was escorted to St. Peter’s Cathedral Nyakatale for the Farewell service
Addressing hundreds of Christians, clergy, and local leaders, the archbishop called on believers to preserve the unity and peace of the Church by placing Christ above personal interests, political affiliations, and tribal differences.
He reminded the congregation that God appoints leaders according to His divine purpose rather than social status, wealth, or family background, urging Christians to trust God's plan and support those called into leadership.
The archbishop also cautioned Christians against gossip, character assassination, jealousy, and internal divisions, warning that such practices weaken the Church's witness and undermine its mission.
He encouraged believers to celebrate one another's achievements, seek God's guidance through prayer when choosing leaders, and resolve disagreements in a spirit of love and humility.
He further warned against the growing influence of materialism, consumerism, liberalism, and secular values, saying many Christians are prioritizing worldly pursuits above their relationship with Christ.
The bishop of kinkiizi diocese, the Rt. Rev. Dan Zoreka appreciated God’s timing for the archbishop's tenure Thanking him for pastoring the folks in the province of the church of Uganda
He also informed the archbishop of the works of the diocese, including empowering all laities to transform both spiritually and ecumenically; he pledged continued support to the province of the Church of Uganda.
Former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi commended Archbishop Kaziimba for his dedicated service to the Church of Uganda, describing his tenure as one marked by transformation, renewed hope, and strengthened unity among Christians.
Mbabazi praised the archbishop for consistently preaching peace, reconciliation, and love while promoting partnerships that have strengthened the Church's witness across the country.
As Archbishop Kaziimba's farewell tour continues across the Church of Uganda's dioceses, his message remains consistent: a united Church, grounded in Christ, free from division, and committed to love and mutual service is essential for strengthening the faith and advancing the Church's mission in the years ahead.
