Bishop Barnabas Tibaijuka receives President Museveni's car donation

The Bishop of West Ruwenzori Diocese, Rt Rev Barnabas Tibaijuka has today received President Museveni's donation of a car to assist him in his pastoral duties. 

The vehicle was handed over to Bishop Tibaijuka by  Vice President Jessica Alupo at her office in Kampala. 

The vehicle was a fulfilment of a pledge made by the President on Bishop Tibaijuka's Consecration in Bundibugyo District on Sunday 27th August 2023 where he was represented by Tom Butime, the Tourism Minister.

The Vice President commended the Bishop for the Diocese's idea of acquiring over 20 acres of land to undertake commercial agriculture. She also commended him for refurbishing the main hospital in the district.

Speaking during the brief ceremony, Bishop Tibaijuka whose Diocese is the newest in the Province, said the vehicle will be used to enhance God's work in the Diocese and the Province at large and pledged to partner with the government to transform livelihoods.

He congratulated the NRM Government and Parliament for passing the Anti-homosexuality Bill that has since been passed into law. "As true Africans and Christians, we have to preserve our traditions and the Biblical truth which is the foundation of our faith", the Bishop said.

On food security which has been a rallying call from the President over the years, Bishop Barnabas reiterated his pledge to encourage Christians to involve themselves in commercial agriculture to have what to eat and what to sell.

He committed to continuing the Church's partnership with the NRM Government in changing lives through mindset change, commercial Agriculture, and upholding security and unity in the region.

The meeting was attended by Ministers of state, Hon. David Bahati for Industry, Hon. Ntabazi Harriet for trade and cooperatives and Hon. Jane Alisemera from the NRM Secretariat.
