Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe Baptizes All Saints Ibanda Church of Uganda, Calling for Peace, Faith, and New Beginnings

The Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe officiated the historic baptism of All Saints Ibanda Church of Uganda, located in Karukata Parish, Rubirizi Archdeaconry. The special service saw the bishop, along with clergy led by Ven. Captain Jallon Atusinguza, and a vibrant congregation, participate in a meaningful ceremony that included the consecration of the church’s holy table, pulpit, baptismal font, and materials used for Holy Communion.

During the service, Bishop Onesimus blessed the new church, reaffirming his commitment to ensuring the Gospel is faithfully preached. He prayed against evil forces and the influence of Satan, declaring that the church would be a true sanctuary of Christ’s teachings.

In his speech, Maama Florence Asiimwe underscored the importance of receiving a new name, saying, “Getting a new name is a great thing. It opens a new chapter and gives you identity.” She encouraged the congregation to see their new identity as a fresh start, urging everyone to preach the true gospel and embrace openness and inclusivity within God’s house.

The bishop delivered a compelling sermon based on the story of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1–7), encouraging believers to identify their “trees”—barriers such as addiction, unforgiveness, adultery, or theft—that hinder them from fully embracing Jesus. He called the congregation to come down from their trees and seek Jesus, emphasizing that salvation is a personal journey.

In a moving moment, Bishop Onesimus made a call for personal salvation, prompting 100 individuals to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

He also urged Christians to stand against political violence and division, warning that some politicians seek to sow discord. Instead, he called on the church to promote peace, righteousness, and the transformative power of the Gospel in Ugandan society.

This day marked a new beginning for All Saints Ibanda Church—a symbol of faith, renewal, and community hope.
