Bukedea RDC, DPC And GISO Remanded To Soroti Prison
Bukedea magistrate court has remanded William Wilberforce Tukei the Resident district commissioner Bukedea, Okoto Charle Patrick the District police commander and Oluka Muhamood Gombolola Internal security organization (GISO) to Soroti prison on alleged charges of neglect of duty and simple robbery respectively.
The investigations conducted by the State House anti-corruption unit led to the arrest of the trio and today have been arraigned before the magistrate court that has read to them the charges that include neglect of duty and simple robbery.
The accused include William Wilberforce Tukei aged 62 a resident of Station Village Kachumbala Sub County Bukedea district also the resident district commissioner, Okoto Charles aged 40 years a resident of Bukedea town council the Bukedea district Police commander and Oluka Muhamoud the Gombolola Internal security organization (GISO) a resident of Bukedea town.
The resident district commissioner William Wilberforce Tukei, district police commander and ASP. Okoto Charles and other members of the district security committee on 6th June 2023 neglected their duties which according to the investigations led to the election malpractice during the recent Bukedea by-elections.
Meanwhile, Oluka Muhamoud aged 59 the Gombolola Internal security officer (GISO), Malinga Dan a.k.a Wenger and 6th June 2023 allegedly robed Omagor David Stephen of UG SHS.9.000.000/= and his election nomination papers.
The attack and robbery of Omagor occurred at the gate of the Electoral Commission in Bukedea, in the presence of police officers who were assigned to guard the premises. This incident followed a previous attack on Omagor the night before his nomination, on June 5, 2023, during which individuals dressed in military uniforms allegedly stole 163 million Shillings, a wristwatch valued at 84 million Shillings, and his nomination papers.
The court presided over by the Bukedea magistrate Kimono Julian has remanded all the accused to Soroti prison until the 26th of July 2023 when they will appear for bail applications.
