Bunyoro Kitara diocese pays tribute to fallen Rev. Tibenda.

Several political, civic and religious leaders yesterday gathered at St. Peters cathedral to honour former Bunyoro Kitara diocesan secretary Rev. Geoffrey Tibenda who was also a key player in the peace building between Banyoro and Bafuruki.

Rev. Tibenda breathed his last on Monday evening at around 8pm at his home in Kikwite cell, in Hoima East division in Hoima City.

While preaching, the chairperson house of clergy in Bunyoro Kitara diocese Ven. Rev. Can. Francis Barongo who is also the archdeacon of Kigaaya archdeaconry asked leaders and Christians to emulate his commitment to religious life.

Vivian Tibenda, the widow, has described him as having been a hardworking husband, educationist.

Other Clergy have also described him as having been faithful in service, 

Bunyoro Kitara kingdom and government have commended the late Tibenda for nurturing a model family, being evangelist and championing peaceful harmonization between Bafuruki and indigenous Banyoro in 2001.

The Chaplain of St. Kakumba Chapel at Kyambogo University, Rev. Emmanuel Mwesigwa says the father will be remembered for being a mentor, advocator, pioneer and a gifted entrepreneur.

The late Rev. Tibenda was born in 1948 in Nyamiyaga in Bubare Sub County in Kabale district.

He will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kyabaranzi, Bwikara Sub County Kagadi district.
