
Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, Total Energies And CCFU Commit To Preserve Cultural Heritage
The Bunyoro Kitara-Kingdom has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cross-Cultural Foundation of Uganda (CCFU), an NGO that focuses on the promotion of cultural preservation and total energies to preserve culture in the region.
The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Prime Minister Owekitimisa Andrew Byakutaga signed on behalf of the kingdom while Ms. Barbra Babwetera, the Executive Director of the Cross-Cultural Foundation of Uganda (CCFU) signed on behalf of CCFU.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Prime Minister Byakutaga says the kingdom welcomes partnerships that support and complement the Kingdom’s efforts to fulfill its core mandate of preserving culture and the overall objective of improving the quality of life of the people.
He adds that the kingdom welcomes oil developments and other changes as long as they are not against the culture of Bunyoro-Kitara.
Ms. Barbra Babweteera noted that under the Memorandum Of Understanding, the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom and CCFU, the two parties have agreed to work together to protect and preserve important cultural sites and intangible heritage in Bunyoro for three years.
These also hope to utilize cultural knowledge & resources to enhance development initiatives and to work with young people to promote and appreciate their culture.
Under this MOU, Total energies will support heritage club members from 7 schools in Buliisa to visit heritage sites in Bunyoro to enhance young people’s appreciation of cultural heritage preservation and promotion and to inspire their participation in its protection.
