Celebrating Eid-Al-Adha: Meat Sellers At Uganda Meat Packers Count Losses Abattoirs Register Low Customer Turn Up

Today, Muslims are celebrating Eid-al-Adha, a festival commemorating Prophet Muhammad's willingness to front sacrifice as a way of worship. For generations, the Muslim community around the world practices the sacrifice of animals and holds great feasts in honor thereof, and sellers of animals usually make a killing in this season.

At Uganda Meat Packers in Port Bell Road, however, the meat traders count total loss today due to low customers compared to the previous year, citing the economic difficulties Ebola outbreak, and school reopening.

Nationwide, Muslims today marked Eid al-Adha, sacrificing animals like goats, cows, and sheep, following Prophet Muhammad's devotion to Allah and signifying the importance of sacrifice.

The meat traders at Uganda Meat Packers, Port Bell Road, an abattoir in Kampala, are complaining about the low number of customers today compared to previous years, citing the country's economic difficulties, the Ebola outbreak, and school reopening. Semanda Posiano, one of the members, had this to say.

Mukandoli Hawa, the women's leader of Uganda meat packers, says the day has only favored traders transporting cows from the different parts of the world, but the meat sellers haven't really made a profit.

Lawerance told us about the current meat prices as they stand today.
