Christians Encouraged To Fight Domestic Violence In Rwenzori
Domestic violence in many homes in the Rwenzori region has contributed to suicide cases and an increase of street kids in towns due to a lack of proper parenting
This was communicated by Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku the Bishop of the south Rwenzori diocese during a commemoration ceremony of 39 years since Kasese district was given a separate diocese of south Rwenzori.
The function was held at St. Paul’s Cathedral Church of Uganda in the South Rwenzori Diocese.
South Rwenzori diocese became a separate diocese from Rwenzori in 1984 with an aim to extend salivation to mountainous areas since many parishes had been created.
While delivering his message to the Christians, Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku the Bishop of South Rwenzori said that domestic violence in many homes has contributed to suicide cases and an increase of street kids in towns due to a lack of proper parenting.
The Bishop says poverty levels among the people have been rated as a major factor that contributes to domestic violence in homes.
He called upon all people to commit themselves to Christ and to work hard in order to be able to meet their family needs.
Rev. David Kagwa the Faith and Human Manager at World Vision Uganda requested the Government to continue implementing laws that are against young children especially those who are victims of domestic violence in areas of education so that they can be good citizens in future.
