Church of Uganda Partners with Stretch for Hope Uganda to Strengthen Church Advocacy

In a collaborative effort to deepen community impact, the Church of Uganda, in partnership with Stretch for Hope Uganda, today convened an advocacy workshop for church leaders and key stakeholders from the Dioceses of Namirembe, Kampala, Luweero, and Mukono, along with staff from the Provincial Secretariat.

The workshop focused on strengthening the Church’s capacity in advocacy principles and skills. Attendees explored practical ways to actively promote equity and equality among vulnerable believers and to coordinate efforts in addressing community challenges more efficiently. The event also served as a platform to map out collaborative strategies that align faith-based leadership with practical development initiatives.

Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Francis Nyakojo, Head of Access to Justice and Legal Aid at the Uganda Christian Lawyers Fraternity, encouraged church leaders to embrace advocacy for development in their communities alongside their pastoral responsibilities. His remarks underscored the role of faith communities in promoting justice and social well-being.

The Acting Provincial Secretary of the Church of Uganda, Mr. Balaam Muheebwa, urged leaders to stay well-informed about church principles as they carry out their mission in society. He expressed optimism about the new collaboration, noting that the partnership is poised to unlock more impactful initiatives for communities.

As participants left with a renewed sense of purpose, organizers emphasized that sustained collaboration will be key to advancing development outcomes that reflect shared values of equity, dignity, and service. The partnership signals a promising path toward more coordinated and effective engagement between the Church and broader community actors.
