Church Of Uganda To Commemorate 16 Days Of Activism Against Gender-based Violence

Church of Uganda will join the rest of the world to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) under the theme: “Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls”.

This period of the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is a key international moment to call for an end to violence against women and girls. It runs from 25th November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10th December, Human Rights Day.

The commemoration will take place in Kasanvu village, Kanyogoga zone, Kisugu Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala City on Wednesday 29th November 2023 starting at 8:30am.

The activities of the day will include; a gender walk in the slum area, sensitization on GBV and a press conference among others

The Chief Guest is Hon. Minsa Kabanda- Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs. She will be accompanied by Hon. Peace Regis Mutuuzo, the State Minister for Gender; Ms. Dorothy Kisaka, the KCCA Executive Director; and Members of Parliament, among many other invited guests.

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, is the host of this event. A number of Bishops, Clergy and other key members of the Church leadership are expected to attend.
