Coffee And Cocoa Value Chain Development Project (CoCoDeV)
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries is calling upon farmers to prepare for the upcoming season under the Coffee and Cocoa Value Chain Development Project (CoCoDev) which aimed at supporting, strengthening and implementing coffee and cocoa policy framework, enhance coffee and cocoa productivity as well as improve quality and marketing opportunities for the products.
The project aims to boost coffee and cocoa production while promoting sustainable farming practices across the country.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries has urged farmers and all its beneficiaries to continue preparing for the next planting season in order to effectively implement the Coffee and Cocoa Value Chain Development Project (CoCoDev) a project aimed at supporting, strengthening and implementing coffee and cocoa policy framework, enhance coffee and cocoa productivity as well as improve quality and marketing opportunities for the products.
This was communicated during a media briefing at the Uganda Media Centre today.
The project which was commenced in March 2022, is said to have awarded over 100 beneficiaries with a grant of upto Ugshs 12 Million aiding farmers to grow huge amounts of coffee nd cocoa.
The Project Coordinator, Coffee and Cocoa Value Chains Development Project, Ronald Kasozi explained how the farmers benefit from the grants stating that these are reimbursement grants that farmers invest in gaining profits in the long run.
He says that despite UCDAs integration into the Ministry of Agriculture, the staff is still undertaking their roles assuring farmers that there will be no disruptions in their activities.
as part of the program, Ugandans have been urged to reduce deforestation by planting more trees and support farmers on crop production using sustainable methods such as irrigation.
The Coffee and Cocoa Value Chain Development Project (CoCoDev) previously under the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) was commenced in March 2022 and will end in September 2027.It aims to support, strengthen and implement coffee and cocoa policy framework, enhance coffee and cocoa productivity as well as improve quality and marketing opportunities for the products.
