Diocese of Muhabura Strengthens Child Nutrition and Disability Support with Rain Water Harvesting Tanks
On May 15, 2025, the Diocese of Muhabura Child Health and Nutrition Project proudly distributed seven rainwater harvesting tanks to seven Church of Uganda parishes—Gitenderi, Sanuriro, Gihuranda, Kagezi, Chibumba, Mubuga, and Buhozi—at the Diocesan headquarters.
Bishop Mbitse Godfrey officiated the handover ceremony, expressing gratitude to Mission Partners Viatores Christi from Ireland for their generous support. The tanks are strategically positioned to empower local communities, especially during the dry season, by enabling the establishment of demonstration vegetable gardens aimed at enhancing child nutrition across Kisoro District.
In addition to water and nutrition initiatives, the project continues to provide vital physiotherapy services to children with disabilities at the Diocese of Muhabura Potters Village Pediatric and Child Crisis Center. These services include the provision of wheelchairs, cerebral pulse special chairs, standing frames, and walkers, ensuring better mobility and quality of life for children with special needs.
This initiative reflects the Diocese’s ongoing commitment to holistic child health, nutrition, and disability support, fostering resilient communities for a brighter future.
