Diocese of West Ankole receives fish feed machines

The Diocese has received five fish feed processing machines from the Ministry of Water, Environment, and Natural Resources in partnership with the Province of the Church of Uganda to boost household and community transformation.

These have been distributed in five archdeaconries within the five catchment districts of Buhweju, Mitooma, Sheema, Bushenyi, and Rubirizi.

The machines are to be installed in the following archdeaconries:

1. Kabwohe at Ankole Western University
2. Greater Bushenyi at All Saints Greater Bushenyi Archdeaconry Headquarters
3. Mitooma Archdeaconry at Mitooma Archdeaconry Headquarters
4. Rugando Archdeaconry at Mwongyera Parish Headquarters (Rugando Archdeaconry)
5. Nsiika Archdeaconry at Nsiika Archdeaconry Headquarters

The Diocese of West Ankole is honored to receive this specialized machinery, delivered through a joint initiative of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Government of Uganda (GOU), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The Ministry of Water and Environment aims to promote the sustainable use of wetlands and supports fish farming as an environmentally friendly and economically viable livelihood. In partnership with the Province of the Church of Uganda, the Diocese of West Ankole is among the 10 dioceses of 39 across the province benefiting from this project.

The project aims at supporting community-based fish feed production to ensure farmers access high-quality feeds at a subsidized, non-profit rate, using locally available resources.

These machines are entirely under the management of the Diocese Bishop's Office, in the Department of Household and Community Transformation.

On behalf of the Diocese of West Ankole, at All Saints Church Greater Bushenyi, this machinery was officially received by the bishop's representatives:

1. Diocesan Secretary
2. Archdeacon Greater Bushenyi
3. Diocesan Coordinator HCT
4. Diocesan Information Officer
