Dr. Kizza’s Lawyers Challenge Judiciary’s Incompetence
There are rising questions about justice and the rule of law as lawyers representing Dr. Kizza Besigye raise serious concerns over what they describe as the judiciary’s incompetence and constitutional disregard.
During a press briefing held at the People’s Front for Freedom offices in Katonga, the legal team expressed growing frustration with judicial conduct in politically sensitive cases
The spotlight is now on Justice Emmanuel Bauman, with calls for him to act in accordance with the Constitution and restore public trust in the legal system.
Dr. Besigye’s lawyers, including Hajji Obed Lutale, didn’t hold back as they criticized judicial decisions they believe blatantly ignore constitutional principles.
As these are preparing a formal appeal to the Uganda Law Society, the legal representatives of Dr. Kizza Besigye, Hajji Obed Lutale, and others unlawfully detained are demanding that ULS take a firm stand against judicial bias and politically influenced rulings.
Despite these challenges, the legal team remains optimistic. Lawyer Eron Kiiza reaffirmed their confidence that justice will prevail.
Frustration continues to mount, not just within legal circles, but among the general public. Several of Dr. Besigye’s supporters have vowed to hold peaceful demonstrations should Justice Bauman fail to fulfill his judicial duty and ensure justice is served.
With the judiciary under fire and public patience running thin, the spotlight is now on Justice Emmanuel Bauman and the Uganda Law Society. Will they rise to the occasion and uphold the Constitution, or will silence deepen the crisis of trust in Uganda’s justice system? The nation and its citizens are watching closely.
