FDC Introduces Party Flag Bearer In Serere By-Elections
The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has introduced Emmanuel Eratu as the party’s flag bearer for the Serere County by-elections.
FDC President Patrick Oboi Amuriat unveiled Eratu early today during the FDC party’s weekly press conference at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi near Kampala.
Emmanuel Eratu contested before as an independent candidate even though he was leaning towards the FDC party. However, he has been officially welcomed to FDC after becoming a full party member.
FDC party president, Patrick Oboi Amuriat described Eratu as a politician with the capabilities to represent the people of Serere County in Parliament.
When asked about the alliance with other parties to front one candidate for this by-election, this is how Amuriat responded.
THE chairman of the FDC Electoral Commission Toterebuka Bamwenda says Elatu was vetted and he is to be presented to the Electoral Commission for nomination on 9th February 2023.
After receiving the party flag, Eratu expressed his readiness for the by-election and pledged to unite the people and work for service delivery.
The other opposition candidate in the race is former MP Alice Alaso who will stand on the ticket of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), alongside others from NRM and independents.
The Serere County seat fell vacant when the MP Patrick Okabe perished in a car accident alongside his wife on 19th December 2022.
