Today the party carried out the national consultative meeting between the FDC members of Kampala, Wakiso Metropolitan Party and leaders from DP and NUP to come up with resolutions for the incoming elections and the forming of a new party name.
During the meeting, the founder of the party Dr. Kizzza Besigye noted that they are ready to work together with other members of the public, party leaders from N and DP, among others to take over power come the 2026 general elections.
As it is observed, Most of the members from the other political parties have opted to join strong parties as they brace for the 2026 elections. Through this process, the FDC party members this week decided to form a new party which wasn’t approved yet within themselves.
The supporters called upon the Katanga leaders to create the party name as soon as possible.
However, according to Hon Ibrahim, the leaders of the FDC Katonga faction will have to involve all the other party members across the country to come up with a conclusion on the changes to the party name.
