FDC Leaders In Bugisu Task Top Party Leaders To Resolve Conflicts Internally

Youth leaders of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in the Bugisu sub-region have expressed their concerns about the ongoing conflicts with the party's top leadership.

The youth leaders now want their leaders to refrain from making malicious claims against each other, as they believe this is negatively impacting their grassroots support and that if there is anything causing the wrangles then it should be resolved internally.

The youth revealed this at a press briefing held at Dream Palace Hotel in Mbale City.

During a press conference in Mbale City Wednesday, the youth leaders from all the districts of Bugisu advised that party officials should engage in internal dialogues to resolve conflicts rather than airing their differences in the media.

Makwasi Sharif, the FDC Youth Chairperson for Sironko district challenged the party founders, particularly Dr. Kiiza Besigye's faction at the Katonga office, to refrain from openly differing from the official party positions.

Mubajje Bakali, a Councilor in Mbale City, called for unity among all factions within the party. Mubajje believes that fostering a sense of unity will lead to progressive development within the party as they prepare for upcoming elections.

Sylia Namono, a youth leader in Mbale City’s Industrial Division, urged the top leadership to refrain from publicly abusing each other, as this diminishes their value in the eyes of party supporters and exposes the party's weaknesses to its competitors.

The former Bungokho North Constituency Member of Parliament Garshom Sizomu Wambende also a member of the FDC noted that there is still room for the party leaders to reconcile. He added that fighting among the party members is healthy and has given room for members to iron out their differences but regardless the fight shouldn’t be public.

Recently party leaders sitting at opposite ends in the unfolding high stake seats in FDC have been at a war fuelled by claims that some of the party leaders are closely behind the curtains getting funds from the rival NRM party.

Meanwhile, the former FDC party president, DR. Kiza Besigye came out to clear the air about the accusations of being behind the current escalation in the fighting.
