FDC National Meeting Stirs Up Another Strike
Different FDC members are still fighting against each other after being rejected from accessing the 16th national council meeting which was presided over by the chairperson of the party, Ambassador Wasiwa Biribwa, the party president Patrick Oboi, and the general secretary. The meeting’s aim was to bring back peace and unity among the party members.
During this meeting, a saga erupted after the party members started to have disagreements and ended up asking journalists to step out of the meeting.
Today over 281 FDC party members, party leaders and members of parliament who belong to the party from the different districts in Uganda attended the 16th national council meeting to come up with resolutions for their party after allegations of having misused the money that was received from the NRM party to assist in the in 2021 elections. This inside information was revealed by party spokesperson Ibrahim Semujju Nganda about a week ago.
The chairperson of the party, Ambassador Birigwa Wassiawa gave a report about the money misuse allegations against the party. He however condemned unbecoming acts of violence, confusion, and disunity saying by law, a member of the party found dehumanising the party will be dismissed.
The Uganda Police Force in a bid to maintain law and order arrested every person who was causing chaos at the entrance as the meeting was ongoing. some were beaten and others were driven to police in-force cars.
Elias Lukwago the lord mayor of Kampala city and his right-hand personnel deputy lord mayor Nyanjura Doreen who were supposed to attend the meeting, caused commotion. Lukwago in the end decided not to attend the meeting.
COU Family TV spoke to some of the FDC party members who were stopped from accessing the meeting and they had this to say.
The battle and wars among the members of the party still stand as they await the final resolutions from the committee to decide a way forward.
