FDC Presidential Candidates Engage Kasese Leaders Amid Support for Youth and Victims of Mudslides

Kasese, June 13, 2025 — The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential aspirants, Patrick Amuriat Oboi and Secretary General Nandala Mafabi, actively engaged with district leaders in Kasese today as part of their nationwide campaign strategy. The candidates held a crucial meeting with local party structures to mobilize support ahead of the 2026 general elections.

During their visit, the candidates outlined their vision for Uganda, emphasizing the importance of youth empowerment, inclusive governance, and party unity. In addition to political mobilization, the FDC leadership demonstrated compassion and solidarity by reaching out to victims of recent devastating mudslides in Nyambuku village, Ibanda-Kyanya Town Council, Busongora North. Relief items were delivered to support those affected by the natural disaster.

Amuriat Patrick Oboi and Nandala Mafabi kicked off their nationwide support campaigns by holding meetings with National Executive Committee (NEC) members across multiple districts. Their goal is to galvanize grassroots support and strengthen party cohesion for the upcoming elections.

Nandala Mafabi emphasized ongoing support for party leaders, while also voicing concerns over the influence of the NRM party on special interest group elections, which he claimed have been largely monopolized by NRM, marginalizing other political players. He warned that the departure of some leaders to NUP is an anti-party move undermining party solidarity and discipline.

Kasese district leaders shared their perspectives regarding the internal challenges facing the party, notably conflicts and disagreements that have hindered the party's progress in recent months. The candidates assured leaders of their commitment to resolving internal issues and rebuilding the party’s strength.

As the campaign heats up, the FDC leaders remain committed to rallying grassroots support, addressing internal divisions, and positioning their candidates for victory in 2026.
