FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi tomorrow marks a significant milestone for the party as the presidential nominations for 2026 officially kick off.
This follows the release of the party’s electoral roadmap for the 2025/2026 general elections last week.
According to FDC Deputy Secretary for Publicity, Publications, and Documentations Mulindwa Walid Lubega, six candidates have shown interest and ought to return their nomination forms starting tomorrow, Tuesday, May 6th.
Mr. Mulindwa added that the FDC electoral commission will oversee the nomination process, ensuring transparency and fairness, and the party's choice will then face off against other candidates in the 2026 presidential elections.
However, the FDC further condemned the Electoral Commission for several malpractices in the ongoing voter update exercise due to end next week, which, he says, severely undermines the credibility of Uganda’s electoral processes.
On July 31st, the FDC National Delegates Committee will sit to elect the Presidential Flag Bearer for the party to contest in the 2026 general elections.
