FDC To Elect Presidential Candidate In June

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has officially kicked off its preparations for the 2026 general elections,  with an announcement that the party will elect its next presidential flag bearer in June. This move marks a significant milestone in the party's journey towards the upcoming elections.


This was said today by the Chairperson Electoral Commission Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda during the release of fdc election roadmap 2025/2026 at the fdc headquarters in Najjanankumbi.


 

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has disregarded rumors circulating on social media about its failure to select a presidential flag bearer for the upcoming general elections.

According to Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, the party will elect its presidential flag bearer on June 20, 2025. This announcement is part of the party's preparations for the 2026 general elections.

Bamwenda added that the party from today kicked off conducting of individual and refill elections in the 29 districts.


This move marks a significant milestone in the party's electoral process, paving way for new leaders to emerge and take the reins. The elections will be conducted in accordance with the party's constitution and guidelines, ensuring a fair and transparent process for all participants.

 

The chairperson provided an update on the national nominations for various groups, outlining the process and timeline for selecting candidates.


It should be noted that during the 2021 general elections, FDC finished third securing 3.26 percent of the total votes, ruling President Yoweri Museveni with 58.38pecent and NUP 35.08 percent.
