The Minister of Local Government, Dr. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, together with leaders on the Bugisu Local Government Update Tour, has intensified the government's anti-corruption campaign, issuing a strong warning against the misuse of public resources.

Speaking during the tour, Hon. Balambu cautioned individuals involved in the theft of taxi revenue, saying the government will not be intimidated in its fight against corruption.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting President Yoweri Museveni's vision of exposing corrupt practices and ensuring accountability across the country

Operations to crack down on public officials accused of embezzling government funds are underway, led by the Minister of Local Government, Dr. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, together with other government leaders.

The operation follows President Yoweri Museveni's directive to intensify the fight against corruption, a commitment he reiterated during his swearing-in when he declared that there would be "no sleep" until corruption is defeated.

One of the ministers accompanying the Bugisu Local Government Update Tour said the team's visits across Eastern Uganda have revealed that many communities have seen little development due to corruption and poor accountability

He emphasized that the tour is not only exposing corruption but also driving positive change and improved service delivery.

The Minister of Local Government, Dr. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, said the team will not be intimidated by threats or phone calls from individuals implicated in the theft of public funds.

He vowed that anyone involved in misappropriating taxi revenue and other government resources will be held accountable.

Masaka City Woman MP Hon. Justine Nameere said the government has stepped up its fight against corruption, warning that officials found embezzling public funds will face arrest.

She added that while Parish Development Model (PDM) funds will continue to be distributed and expanded to benefit communities, individuals involved in corruption will not be allowed to benefit from the program.

Leaders maintain that the fight against corruption will be sustained, with officials implicated in the misuse of government resources facing the law, while programmes such as the Parish Development Model are protected to benefit deserving Ugandans
