Health Committee Urges Ministry To Re-Activate Kilembe Credit Line

The parliamentary committee on health is in Kasese to follow up on the uncertainties surrounding Kilembe Mines hospital.

It follows an earlier decision by the Ministry of health to de-activate the facility's credit line for essential medicines.

Following the Ministry of health's decision to de-activate Kilembe Mines hospital credit line for essential medicines, there has rift between the Ministry and leaders in Kasese.

Kasese Municipality MP Kambale Ferigo while on the floor of parliament raised concerns from Kasese which prompted the investigation.

The parliamentary health committee headed by the vice Chairperson Hon. Sebikali Joel, spent two days in Kasese as follow up to investigate the issue.

After thorough consultations and observations, the committee resolved that the hospital credit line be reactivated to ensure supply of essential medicines.

The committee members also resolved that, the new proposed hospital whose construction is under the pipeline be Constructed in Kilembe and not health Centre.

However the committee members requested that a formal writing be done and land titles be presented to government to guarantee ownership before any construction commences.

MPs from Kasese district say the visit of the parliamentary health committee excited the leaders but noted need for the challenges.
