Hoima NRM Primaries Pushed To 28th August
The NRM Electoral Commission has extended the voting date for the Hoima District LCV Chairperson by three days from August 25th to August 28th 2023. This is According to a letter signed by Dr. Tanga Odoi the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson.
The Polling date which had originally been scheduled for August 25th has been changed to August 28th 2023.
Joseph Kutegeka, the Hoima District NRM Election Officer has confirmed that he has received a letter of the revised program for the Hoima District NRM Primaries from Dr. Tanga Odoi.
Kutegeka says the main reason is to enable the candidates to recover the time that was lost when the Campaigns were suspended.
The Suspension came about when six candidates boycotted joint rallies citing violence and intimidation by supporters of some candidates.
Kutegeka says they have experienced a low turn-up of people coming to register such that they can be able to vote and also some candidates have not yet submitted their revised campaign programs.
Some of the Candidates are happy with the extension noting that the District has some places which are hard to reach adding that this will give them ample time to get there.
Uthuman Mugisa Kadir junior, Jackson Mulindambura and Samuel Byaruhanga all NRM Aspirants say that there are Sub-Counties which have bigger parishes and they had not yet covered all of them.
The Hoima District LC5 Seat fell vacant following the death of the Former District Chairperson Kadir Kirungi in a Motor accident in March this year.
