Hoima West LC 1 And LC2 Chairpersons Urged To Reignite Security Consciousness

Local Council one and two chairpersons in Hoima West division, Hoima City have been urged to reignite security consciousness and support security agencies to limit the enemies from entering the country.

This has been said by Sarah Nanyanzi, the deputy resident city commissioner for Hoima West division during a meeting held at the division headquarters in Kibingo to forge means of securing the area and development.

During the meeting held at the division headquarters in Kibingo, Sarah Nanyanzi, the deputy resident city commissioner for Hoima West division observed that there are some loopholes in some areas and asked local leaders to be conscious of new people who come into their area either doing casual Labor or hawking.

Nakyanzi added that there are some Chairperson who are abetting crime, especially land conflicts and money theft.

Robert Ruhiigwa, the mayor of Hoima West division has said that lack of vigilance in the area has increased cattle and property theft.

Erikana Kiiza Katafari, the Chairperson of LC1 Ruyanja West village pointed fingers at the police saying that there is a weakness in security operatives who normally respond late to their village security concerns.

Monica Kabatoro, the chairperson Kasingo ward has raised a security concern about an increased number of hawkers who traverse areas unidentified adding that there is no law to stop them.

As one of the resolutions, Nanyanzi has therefore said with immediate effect, the village chairpersons should report new people in their areas of command.

This security meeting comes at a time when security arrested 22 suspected members of the Allied for Democratic Forces (ADF) in Kyankwanzi district which is a neighbouring district to Hoima.
