Hon Yusuf Nsibambi Appointed Parliament Chief Whip For FDC Party

Today during the 6th National Delegates’ conference, Hon Yusuf Nsibambi took over the position of Chief whip representing the FDC party in the parliament.
This comes after the speaker of parliament had rejected a letter from Nandala Mafabi suggesting the appointing of Yusuf as the chief whip in the parliament without any approval from the chairperson.
Speaking at the conference today, Nandala Mafabi the general secretary FDC requested the vice chairperson Bernard Kibuka to sign the acceptance form which allows Yusuf Nsibambi to be the chief whip in the parliament replacing Semujju Nganda.
This exercise was done with permission from the vice chairperson, who requested all FDC members to carry out a general vote for record keeping.
Over 965 FDC members seconded the motion to allow Yusuf Nsibambi as the chief whip while only 8 FDC members rejected the move and 9 were substandard.
The vice chairperson announced the final results from the voting Still, at the conference, Kibuka noted that the forefathers of the party had other ambitions and that’s why they came up with activism and let go of the party cultures.
Frank Nabwiso highlighted the challenges that the party has been facing saying that working together as elders of the party and leaders will bring change rather than division.
All nominated candidates were given platforms to campaign before being voted, these have promised to work in hard to put the party to another level.
It should be noted that only 150 FDC candidates picked forms for registration. 69 candidates were nominated and 38 candidates were unopposed.
