The Minister of State for industry at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Hon. David Bahati, has called on NRM leaders in Kabale District to maintain discipline and respect the ruling party's principles to foster development and unity.

Hon. Bahati, who also serves as the NRM Chairperson for Kabale District and the Ndorwa West Member of Parliament, made these remarks during celebrations to mark 39 years of Uganda’s Liberation. The event, organized by the NRM district office, was held at Kabale Municipal Stadium on Sunday.

Addressing hundreds of party supporters, Bahati urged members to prioritize the party’s collective interests over individual ambitions.

Bahati further commended the NRM government for its developmental initiatives in the Kigezi region, citing its efforts as a foundation for celebration and continued support for the party.

The celebrations also featured a solemn moment of tribute to three FRONASA heroes who were executed by firing squad on February 10, 1973, under the orders of former President Idi Amin Dada.

The honored individuals included: James Karambuzi, a resident of Igabiro Village in Mwanjari Ward, Kabale Municipality, David Kagoro Kangire, a resident of Kasoni Village, Rukiga District and Joseph Bitwari, a former Kabale District Commissioner.

The three were charged with treason and executed in a public spectacle led by Lt. Col. Ali Fadhul, then based at Makenke Military Barracks in Mbarara District.

During the event, family members, friends, and local leaders laid wreaths on the FRONASA monument to honor their memory and sacrifice for Uganda’s liberation. The event, which was attended by senior NRM officials, also served as an opportunity to appreciate the leadership of President Yoweri Museveni.

Enoch Barata, the NRM’s Director for Legal Services, commended the Banyakigezi community for their steadfast support of the party and its revolutionary journey.

Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha, the NRM Chairperson for Kabale Municipality, applauded President Museveni’s leadership, emphasizing the role it has played in ensuring peace and stability in the country.

Andrew Aja Baryayanga, a former Member of Parliament for Kabale Municipality, echoed similar sentiments, urging the people of Kabale to remain united in supporting the party.

Several local leaders expressed their commitment to President Museveni’s leadership and endorsed him as the NRM’s sole candidate for the 2026 presidential elections.
