How Uganda commemorated world AIDS day

Uganda yesterday joined the rest of the world in Commemorating the World Aids Day in a move to create awareness about the disease as well as sensitizing the public on how to end it.

The event was held in Rukungiri district.

During the World Aids Day Commemoration event that was held in Rukungiri district, President Yoweri Museveni who officiated the event used the opportunity to sensitize the public on prevention of further spread of the disease.

The Rtd. Bishop Patrick Tugume noted the need to ensure that Uganda has an AIDS free generation.

He stressed that factors including social, economic and persistent inequality between adolescent girls, boys, and young women has weakened efforts of preventing further spread of the disease.

Students also participated in the event with music and drama with messages of awareness and sensitization.
