Hundreds turn out for the Provincial Do good family run
The Diocese of West Ankole organized and participated in the Provincial Do Good Family Run, a fundraising drive by the Mothers' Union towards the construction of the Provincial Mothers' Union hostel that will generate revenue for the church.
This drive has been rolled out across the province and will officially be held in the province on the 17th of July 2025.
While flagging off the run at the Bushenyi district playground, the chief runner and the Diocesan Mothers' Union president, Lay Can Jovia Muhanguzi, stated the purpose of the run, noting that it will not only raise funds for their project but also act as an opportunity for participants to exercise, network, and build healthy families.
Runners and walkers started from the Bushenyi playground, went through Bushenyi town, and finished at the Bweranyangi Junior School playground.
Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni, addressing the runners, thanked the province for organizing such an event and congratulated participants upon the run.
He encouraged people to prioritize building a healthy body by not engaging in behaviors such as alcoholism, smoking, and sexual immorality, but rather exercising and eating and drinking healthily.
Bishop Johnson asked Christians, when called upon, to keep supporting and participating in church projects and activities.
After the run, the fastest runners were awarded in the category of best two females and males, respectively.
The run was sponsored and attended by archdeacons, Mothers' Union coordinators, Fathers' Union coordinators, Bishops' office staff, Equity Bank, Jubilee Sacco, Muhame Financial Services, Ankole Western University, secondary and primary schools' representatives, and Compassion Assisted projects.
