Today the Ministry of Trade has handed the newly constructed warehouse in Masafu town council to an investor who shall help in adding value on agricultural products worth for exportation.
Over 18 billion shillings for the project have even been handed to Masafu Industries an investor who is partnering with African Power Initiative. They shall utilize the facility for the undisclosed time. We have the report.
John Mulimba, the state minister of Foreign Affairs on behalf of the minister of trade during the handing over of the Masafu own council warehouse to investors said that the ministry of trade has handed the investor the facility that has been lying idle since the completion of its construction. He appealed to farmers and produce dealers to embrace the project and supply the investors with products.
Dr Thelima Awori, the director of Masafu Industries noted that they are going to do grain processing and add value addition on other agricultural products that can out compete the international markets. She adds that by next week, the project will fully kick start.
Michael Kibwika, the Busia RDC voiced that initially some issues of land disputes have been fully settled.
Mangeni Sam Okumu, the Masafu town council mayor applauded the Ministry of Trade for considering the operationalization of the warehouse facility because it had become a haven for criminals.
