ICT Ministry Sends 120 Trainers To Sensitize Citizens On PDM
The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance has sent out a team of over 121 trainers across the country to sensitize the community on the use of information systems for the Parish Development Model (PDM).
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Aminah Zawedde said that the ICT mechanism is the solution to the many complaints previously registered about the failing PDM information system.
On several occasions, many people have reported that the information system used for the Parish Development Model (PDM) was failing to serve its intended purpose, especially in the areas of the Lwengo and Butambala districts.
In response, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Aminah Zawedde said that the Ministry has sent out a team of about 121 experts across the country to train individuals on how to use the PDM ICT system.
Dr Zawedde explained that due to a lack of funds, most PDM beneficiaries in areas of Kampala and Wakiso are yet to be been registered on the PDM information system.
She, therefore, appealed to the local governments to support the ICT Ministry with funds to enable the successful registration of households across the country.
The PS explained that the system is flexible and can be accessed while on or off the internet.
The ICT Ministry is in charge of spearheading pillar 6 of PDM involving setting up management systems to track the progress and performance of different PDM pillars so as to report real-time implementation of the program, validate information about beneficiaries, and evaluate livelihood and the standards of living of the people.
The PDM data collection process started in the 2022/23 financial year after President Yoweri Museveni launched the programme in the Bukedi sub-region.
