Inauguration Ceremony for Saad Memorial SS New Board of Governors: School Commended for Withstanding Challenging Season

The school is Kasese District's oldest secondary institution that started way back in 1974. The school has faced recent administrative challenges, including lack of an officially appointed head teacher and deputy, as well as poor academic performance.

‎Saad Memorial Secondary School, the first-ever established secondary school in Kasese District, yesterday held the inauguration of the new Board of Governors on the school premises. This was the first handover of office since the previous setbacks of the school, and our reporter was there.

 

‎While presenting his report, the Kasese District Muslim Kadhi Sadik Musa Baluku reported that among the challenges faced at the school were declining structures and competition, among others, and nevertheless noted clear signs of recovery and growth.

 

‎While presenting her speech, the District Education Officer revealed that the school has had so many challenges and nearly closed.

 

‎The Kasese RDC Maate Mangwara expressed his profound gratitude to different individuals and institutions for the efforts towards revamping the school. He, however, cautioned staff and board against misconceptions regarding honoring

top leaders more than the government.

 

‎Mrs Sarah Kyakimwa, the outgoing Chairperson of the Board, highlighted some other achievements during her term in office and asked the new board to take on their roles and add more developments so that the school's glory can rise.

 

‎The Chairperson of the Parents and Teachers Association, James Kainamurachomya, said he became leader of the PTA when the enrollment of students at Saad Memorial Secondary School was 50, and that now the school is coming back to its glory with a current total of over one thousand students.

 

‎representatives of the old boys and girls of the school, James Thembo, said they mobilized and got engaged in various activities that would enable them to participate in the rise of the school.

 

‎While interviewing the current school head teacher, Isahaq Agaba, after the inauguration meeting, he said the school has had better academic performance in the previous years in office. He, however, outlined some challenges of the school.

 

‎The new Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Mrs. Namulondo Zulaika, appreciated whoever trusted her abilities to serve as the chairperson of the board.

 

‎With the newly inaugurated Board of Governors taking office, hopes remain high among the school community that Saad Memorial Secondary School will continue reclaiming its historical position as one of the leading institutions in Kasese District.
