IRCU Holds Religious Freedom Conference Ahead Of Family Festival

The Interreligious Council of Uganda has revealed the need how to balance religious expression and personal freedoms saying that the family is the most essential human institution and that there’s a need for society to raise children of good character.

This was remarked by the Co-Chair of IRCU and Archbishop Uganda Orthodox Church, His Eminence Metropolitan Jeronymos Muzeeyi during the religious freedom round table and advocacy for parental rights, under the theme Protecting Family Values and Personal Freedom.

This comes ahead of the interreligious Family Festival that will take place on 29th June at Kololo Independence grounds.

As we get closer to the interreligious Family Festival that will take place on 29th June at Kololo Independence grounds, the interreligious council of Uganda has today held a religious freedom round table and advocacy for parental rights, under the theme Protecting Family Values and Personal Freedom.

In his opening remarks Co-Chair of the Interreligious Council of Uganda Council of Presidents and Archbishop Uganda Orthodox Church, His Eminence Metropolitan Jeronymos Muzeeyi said that Faith communities have a critical role to play in ensuring that religious freedom use the space provided to contribute towards human growth.

He revealed the need how to balance religious expression and personal freedoms saying that the family is the most essential human institution, and there’s a need for society to raise children with good morals. 

He says that policymakers and leaders should also take into account the need to fight for their communities’ beliefs while promoting growth and good governance.

Member Council of Presidents of the Interreligious Council of Uganda and Leader of Born Again Faith in Uganda Presiding Apostle Dr Joseph Serwadda revealed the role of religious entities towards protecting Family Values and Personal Freedom.

UPDF Spokesperson Brigadier Gen. Felix Kulaigye says that despite the emphasis being on parents’ rights, religious freedoms and others, it’s the responsibility of parents to nurture a child and give the country responsible citizenship. 

Rt. Rev Paul Hannington Suubi, Bishop of East Busoga Diocese noted that most of the parents have left their responsibility of nurturing their children God’s ways.
