Kansanga Residents Thrilled Over Re-Opening Of Previously Flooded Drainage Channel
The residents of Kansanga together with government officials today were relieved when the KCCA carried on with the reopening of the drainage channel which was blocked for years and yet it has been affecting the lives of communities with flooding.
Residents told the press that Pastor Isaac Kyobe Kiwewesi the Senior Pastor of Kansanga Miracle Centre owns the land on which this channel is located and efforts to previously get him to make any improvements were futile.
This happened today during the planting of trees by KCCA ahead of the NAM summit.
Today the residents of the Kananga neighborhood especially those of Miracle Center Kansanga where Pastor Isaac Kyobe Kiwewesi is the lead pastor were delighted after seeing engineers from KCCA renovating the previously damaged drainage channel which had for years affected their homes with unending floods. The closure of the drainage is said to have been caused by the very same gentleman, miracle centre church Pastor Isaac.
The residents and the government officials noted that the closure of the drainage channel had affected the lives of the communities causing families to look for alternative places to stay.
There were also misunderstandings during the demarcation of the land at the drainage site
Speaking to Mark Baingana, Resident City Commissioner, Makindye division the floods have been affecting the roads and also people’s houses
Eng Maurice Kairania Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Egiss Engineering Contractors said that the work has to continue since boundaries were established.
