Kasese Leads the Way in Justice Efficiency: Over 100 Cases Resolved in Just Two Months

Kasese District has become a shining example of swift and effective justice delivery, resolving over 100 criminal cases within a span of just two months. This remarkable achievement is seen as a groundbreaking milestone in the region, demonstrating what can be accomplished through dedication, teamwork, and community involvement.

The milestone was announced by His Worship George Mfitondinda, Acting Deputy Registrar of Kasese High Court, who attributed the success to the strong cooperation among judicial officers and prison staff. Despite challenges such as insufficient court infrastructure, their collective efforts have significantly improved the pace of justice in the district.

In a recent court session, Justice Tweyanze sentenced three individuals to 40 years in Mubuku Government Prison for the murder of 23-year-old Azam Muhindo. This case, among many others, showcases the district's commitment to ensuring justice is served quickly and effectively.

George Mfitondinda emphasized that this is a historic first—handling over one hundred capital criminal cases within two months. However, he also highlighted ongoing issues, including the limited court facilities, which remain a major challenge for the judiciary.

Community members are calling for more support, especially in making witnesses available, to help keep the momentum and ensure justice continues to be administered efficiently. While Kasese has made impressive strides, the broader Ugandan judiciary still faces a significant backlog, with many cases pending for extended periods.

Kasese’s impressive progress offers a hopeful glimpse into what is possible with unity and commitment, inspiring other districts to address their own case backlogs and improve judicial processes nationwide.
