
Katikkiro Meets Nrm Secretariat Chiefs
The Katikkiro of Buganda, Owekitiibwa Charles Peter Mayiga, has met with officials of the ruling NRM party Secretariat led the Director of Mobilization and Cadre Recruitment, Rosemary Seninde.
The meeting held at the Katikkiro’s offices in Bulange Mengo focussed on socio-economic transformation of the people. The Katikkiro says he welcomes all efforts to better the lives of the people.
The Director of Mobilization and Cadre Recruitment at the NRM party Secretariat Rosemary Seninde, says they found it befitting to meet the Katikkiro, Owekitiibwa Charles Peter Mayiga, to thank him on his role in development and also seek his guidance on how the ruling party can do better to transform livelihoods.
Addressing his visitors, Katikkiro Mayiga said that Buganda kingdom is deeply concerned about the socio-economic well-being of the people. He asked the NRM party to work in partnership with the NRM party to on programmes that can transform the lives of the people.
The Katikkiro urged the NRM party not to deviate from the principles upon which their government came into power in 1986, among which is the observance and promotion of human rights of all regardless of their political affiliations. This also includes punishing those who violate the rights of Ugandans.
He appreciated the government for restoring Kingdoms in 1993, adding that Buganda kingdom would maintain the bridge between Mengo and the government for the good of the people.
On behalf of the NRM leaders, the Director of Mobilization and Cadre Recruitment at the NRM party Secretariat Rosemary Seninde, said that the meeting with the katikkiro was fruitful and they would pass on whatever was agreed to the top leadership of the ruling party, including the party chairman, President Yoweri Museveni.
